The More Satisfying Tackle

I love getting in the dirt and the mud, in the thick of it if you will. Getting in trouble on the field, there is no better feeling then when you make a move on the pitch that totally stuns your opponent and the referee. There is always adrenaline involved, some pride mixed in with passion. It is a tonic for the ages, similar to going to battle and fighting. Though these days, guns seem to take the thrill of combat away in my opinion, short hand combat is where its at. Street fighting, wrestling and MMA are great combat sports filled with passion and adrenaline. Nothing like a scar for an accessory.
A rugby tackle and a slide challenge are the closest you can get to combat in field sports in my opinion. I am not very sure about other sports and how they compare but I grew up playing two of the big boys… And the adrenaline of making a fantastic rugby tackle is second to none as an experience. It is definitely part luck and part faith where you land on the opponent and where the opponent lands on you. So that is the mixture I seem to enjoy when making a rugby tackle. Whereas a football slide challenge is completely skill based and it is almost certainly all pride when you launch the assault.
So both are very different experiences yet equally satisfying, knowing you’ve done well for the moment. I would like to say I am quite proficient at both of these sports, enough so to be able to tackle with some technique. As for how, I would say when making a football tackle, you have to try to predict where the opponent is going to move the ball and prevent that. By being there a second early, you can get the ball right before it is dispossessed. As for a rugby tackle, I would say that going for the thighs is the best bet every time. Nothing like tackling in sports...
